Recently noted as the fastest growing law firm in Chicago, Benesch is continuing its national expansion strategy on the West Coast.
At the end of January, members of the firm’s executive committee announced the opening of a San Francisco office. This week, the firm is pleased to announce that Reed Lyon will be joining the Litigation Practice, the third associate to join the office led by Administrative Partner Krista Enns.
Lyon advises corporate clients on general and complex litigation matters in both state and federal courts. He focuses his work in many phases of litigation and arbitration, including discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, mediation, and settlement.
“We are excited to have an outstanding attorney like Reed join the firm,” said Joe Castrodale, Chair of the Litigation Practice Group and Vice Chairman of the Firm. “He helps further our commitment to providing smart fixes to complicated business issues. And Reed’s litigation experience will serve our Silicon Valley clients well.”
“Opening an office in San Francisco is the next logical step for Benesch,” said Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg. “Many of our clients are based in California and the legal landscape is energetic and exciting. It goes without saying that California is home to some of the best companies in the country. We want to be a part of that.”
The San Francisco office will focus initially on litigation work, but is expected to grow, perhaps adding Labor and Employment and Intellectual Property litigation practices as well.
“We have enough space to support an aggressive growth strategy in the San Francisco market as well as a number of current Benesch attorneys from other offices who will be splitting their time in San Francisco,” Eisenberg added.
In all, just over 70 attorneys have joined the firm in the last 18 months, which in addition to the opening of the West Coast office has seen the expansion of practices including class action litigation, intellectual property litigation and labor and employment. Since making its debut on the AmLaw 200 list in 2016, the firm has advanced 15 places and is currently ranked at number 180.
Lyon graduated from Duke University School of Law in 2012 and from Claremont McKenna College in 2007.
