Recently noted as the fastest growing law firm in Chicago, Benesch is continuing its national expansion strategy with another new hire in Cleveland.
Dr. Raymond N. Russell is a partner with the firm’s Intellectual Property/3iP Practice Group and focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the biological and chemical arts in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Russell’s representative areas include small molecule pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, diagnostic assays, immunology, polymer science, coating technology, medical devices, biomaterials, biotechnology, and biofuel production. His client counseling responsibilities regularly require him to provide assessments regarding filing strategies, patentability, inventorship, freedom-to-operate and other intellectual property issues, such as clearance opinions relating to ANDAs for generic drugs.
“Dr. Russell brings a depth of experience in a very sophisticated, fast developing area of law which will add to our already deep bench,” said Michael D. Stovsky, Chair of Benesch’s Intellectual Property/3iP Practice Group. “I’m confident that he will play a key role in our continued growth and we are delighted to have him join us.”
Dr. Russell received his J.D. from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law in 2001, his Ph. D. in Bio Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1991 and his B.A. in Chemistry from Earlham College in 1984. Prior to entering the practice of law, Dr. Russell worked at the Chemical Abstracts Service as a Scientific Information Analyst in the Biochemistry Department.
