As Benesch continues to execute its growth strategy via strategic recruiting of top-notch legal talent from around the nation, the firm is pleased to announce the hiring of Christopher “Chris” J. Roman in Chicago.
Chris’ practice focuses on wealth preservation and planning for high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families, including the owners of closely-held businesses, family offices, and principals of private equity and venture capital funds.
“We are a firm with an entrepreneurial spirit, serving entrepreneurially minded clients, so Chris is a great fit here in both senses,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch’s Managing Partner. “He joins our Business Succession, Estate Planning & Wealth Management Practice Group at a moment when many business owners, principals and other high-net worth individuals and families are looking for forward-thinking guidance on how to secure their assets in an uncertain world. His strategic counsel is exactly what they’re seeking.”
Chris has particular experience in designing estate plans that leverage his clients’ estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax (GST) exemptions to pass wealth to future generations in a tax efficient manner. He also advises clients in navigating the complex domestic and international income tax and corporate law issues associated with these plans.
Chris earned his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2009. Additionally, he earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the Villanova University School of Law in 2013. He is an active writer and commentator on tax issues, having articles published in the Journal of Accountancy, Trusts & Estates, and the ACTEC Law Journal.
Nearly 60 attorneys have joined Benesch nationally in the last 18 months. The firm’s growth reflects the execution of a strategic plan launched by Eisenberg in 2015. Since making its debut on the AmLaw 200 list in 2016, the firm has advanced 15 places and is currently ranked at number 180.
