Barbara A. Lum Admitted to the Product Liability Advisory Council

Benesch is pleased to announce that partner, Barbara A. Lum, has been invited to join the Products Liability Advisory Counsel (PLAC) as a Sustaining Member.

Comprised of more than 100 leading product manufacturers, suppliers, and retailersand 350 of the most elite product liability defense counsel operating in the U.S. and abroad, PLAC is a nonprofit association formed 35 years ago to analyze, understand and shape the common law of product liability and complex litigation, provide guidance on changing regulations, and strategically help corporations manage risk throughout the entire product lifecycle. PLAC, which grants membership by invitation only, works with product manufacturers, their suppliers and retailers to anticipate, address and respond to: State, Federal and International Regulatory Framework; Due Process in Legal Proceedings; and Environmental, Health and Safety Risk Concerns Related to their Design, Manufacturing and Distribution of Products.

Barbara Lum focuses on defending clients in product liability and mass tort litigation, putative class actions, and personal injury and premises liability cases. In addition to her first-chair trial and litigation experience, she has worked extensively with experts to conduct field investigations and resolve pre-litigation claims involving catastrophic product failure and fire damage. Barbara also counsels clients on risk mitigation and avoidance strategies, as well as product warnings and instructions, warranties, and commercial terms and conditions.
